Rare WWII officer's cap badge of Vlasov's Russian Liberation Army Air Force 1944

Rare officer's cap badge-patch emblem of Gen. Andrey Vlasov's Russian Liberation Army's (ROA) Air Force, circa.

1944 ; size: 153 x 52 mm. The emblem was worn on Luftwaffe-issued peaked service hats, and consisted of the oval white/blue/red cockade of the ROA (in place of the standard German national cockade) within the woven Luftwaffe weath & stylized wings. This emblem here pre-dates a later design alteration which saw the winged wreath removed. The standard Luftwaffe eagle-and-swastika metal pin was worn above this emblem on the hat. The Air Force element of Vlasov's army was established in October 1943, and emblems of it - especially this hat badge - are extremely rare ref Littlejohn p. The emblem appears to have been instituted as per Regulation 32003/44 of 18 March 1944 which formalized the uniform of this unit, which in November of that year was formally retitled the Russian People? S Liberation Committee (KONR) and Armed Forces (VS-KONR) Air Force (VVS-KONR).

Our consignor acquired this piece directly from a former unit member, an emigre now residing in the UK. These options can be selected on check-out. -- Prospective buyers in countries without postal relations with Israel can receive orders via a third country.
