C. WWII British Military Army Officers Large Leather Field Kit Travel Bag
It has been named to Grey and you can also faintly see underlying text which reads Not Wanted on Voyage. The bag has remnants of old paper labels to both ends but no visible suggestion of date. I would suggest this is WWII period, possibly earlier.
Someone may be able to date it from the style of zip? The heavy duty brass zips have crows foot zip pulls. The zips are a little stiff but still function.
The handles are in good order. There is also an outer pair of cross straps with unusual buckles which I assume would have been lockable in their day. Unfortunately one of the straps is missing off the one side and the other has damage.
A large scale bag, the largest I've ever come across. Approx measurements taken across the base are 78 cm x 29 cm but it does splay out to about 50cm. 2.82 kg Overall I would say it was in fairly good condition considering the nature of the bag and age.The leather is still soft but would benefit a good feed / wax.
